Documentary film of 45 minutes about 30 years of work to create a folk high school in Latvia

The film was shown on Danish television and is about a group of Latvians who were visiting a folk high school in Southern Jutland just after the fall of the wall and the liberation in 1991. The Latvians tried to start a project to renovate an old school building 160 kilometers from Riga in the Jekabpils region, close to the Lithuanian border. A Latvian woman Aija Rutka was the initiator and asked a Dane Andreas Aabling Pedersen for help. He contacted a lot of school people and a mayor Lauge Jepsen in Southern Jutland and they decided to help get a folk high school based on the Danish model started. Niels Bendix Knudsen and Lis Nielsen were the first teachers and the people who continued the work and who can now celebrate their 30th anniversary.

The film tells about the beginning and the difficulties that existed at that time and shows how the school works today.
